Baby You Can Drive My Car: Cleaning Out the Kidmobile
I try to clean out the car once every 3 months. This is because Jiffy Lube will vacuum your car for you as they do mysterious things under the hood. If the the floor of the car has risen to the level of the seats due to a combination of garbage and everything you have been searching for in the house, alas, they will not vacuum the floors. Last week, because it had been 6 months and 6,000 miles instead of half that, and because the "maintenance" light has been on for 3 months, I decided it was time. I always bring out one bag for trash, one for recycling, one for dirty laundry, one for dirty dishes, one for toys and one for Mommy and Daddy stuff that belongs in the house instead. Then, as the kids pretend like they are driving and ingest some of the hand sanitizer they have discovered, I sort the contents of the car. This time I found: one unopened box of laundry detergent, one laundry basket full of toys, one laundry basket full of dirty laundry, several newborn sized diapers (these have not been useful for 19 months), one bag assorted moldy fruit peels/cores, 7 sippy cups, 11 shoes and mold growing on the car carpet. Then I ceremoniously promise my self, "The car will never be this disgusting again!" But don't worry, come April I will be once again exploring the mysteries of the unknown in my kidmobile.
